2010 Year In Review
2010 was the second year in implementing a five-year strategic plan that identified four areas on which to focus our efforts.  Below is a summary of focus areas including highlights of 22 grants awarded totaling $7,966,388 and three disbursements of previously awarded 2008 and 2009 grants in the amount of $5,606,567.  The total amount paid in 2010 for grants awarded or disbursed was $13,572,955. 2009 Year In Review
2009 was the first year in implementing a five-year strategic plan that identified four areas on which to focus our efforts. Below is a summary of focus areas including highlights of 41 grants awarded totaling $24,136,767. 2008 Year In Review
The Foundation authorized twenty-six grants in the calendar year 2008 totaling $35,486,500. The Foundation paid in the 2008 calendar year $19,486,500. Approximately 92% were awarded to non-profit organizations in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Thirty-six percent of all grants awarded were for construction or renovation projects, 4% were awarded for land acquisition and approximately 60% for program support. Percentage breakout by program area by grants paid was Civic Affairs – 21%, Culture/Humanities – 10%, Health – 21%, Education – 21%, and Human Services – 27%. Reflected in the amount paid for 2008 was the first of five $4 million grant installments payable to the University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center. The Foundation awarded 31 grants in the calendar year 2007 totaling $20,482,428. Approximately 58% were awarded to non-profit organizations in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Thirty-four percent of all grants awarded were for construction or renovation projects, 21% were awarded for land acquisition and approximately 11% for program support. Percentage breakout by program area was Civic Affairs – 21%, Health – 25%, Education – 35%, and Human Services – 19%. Reflected in the amount paid for 2007 was the last of three $5 million grants installments payable to the University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center which was approved in 2004. 2006 Year In Review
The Foundation paid 48 grants in the calendar year 2006 totaling $20,002,324. Forty percent of all grants were awarded to non-profit organizations in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Thirty-six percent of all grants awarded were for construction or renovation projects and 27% were awarded for college scholarship endowment. Percentage break out by program area was Civic Affairs – 7%, Health - 25%, Education - 54%, Human Services - 9%, and Culture & Humanities - 5%. 2005 Year In Review
The Grants Payout in 2005 was $18,737,169.  This payout reflects forty-eight grants totaling $13,738,169 plus the first of three $5 million grants to the University of Louisville for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.  The JGBCC grant was committed in 2004, but payable over three years beginning in 2005.
